Bio-Silacumin Supplements
Support your hair’s wellbeing with this liquid supplement designed with enhanced absorption in mind. This 1% Ortho-silic Acid (OSA) solution is a uniquely bioavailable source of silicon, an essential micronutrient for collagen synthesis and the formation of hair. Selenium and zinc further contribute to hair maintenance, while the bioactive compounds and antioxidants in curcuma add extra support.

What does bioavailability mean?
Bioavailability refers to the proportion of a specific nutrient that is absorbed and utilised by the body. The more bioavailable a nutrient, the more the body can use it for its intended mode of action.
-
How does Bio-Silacumin support the wellbeing of your hair?
Bio-Silacumin is formulated with 100% stabilised Ortho-silicic Acid (ch-OSA), a uniquely bioavailable source of silicon. Silicon is an essential micronutrient for collagen synthesis, which is crucial for the formation of hair.
In very simple terms, our body’s natural silicon and therefore collagen formation decline with age, making our hair weaker and our skin less youthful-looking. Providing it with nutrients that play a role in collagen synthesis may help maintain vital hair and skin over time.
Bio-Silacumin also contains zinc and selenium, which contribute to the maintenance of normal hair.

What makes Bio-Silacumin special?
Silicon is an essential nutrient for collagen synthesis and hair formation. However, it is challenging to supplement due to its low absorption rate in the human body in most forms.
The choline-stabilised Ortho-silicic Acid used in Bio-Silacumin (ch-OSA) is one of the most bioavailable sources of silicon [1,2]. This means that thanks to its specific structural characteristics, ch-OSA has profound absorption properties [3] and is more readily available for your body to use than in other forms.
In concentrated solutions, Ortho-silicic Acid has to be stabilised to avoid its polymerization, resulting in a decreased silicon bioavailability. This issue has been solved by the use of choline chloride in aqueous glycerol solution, which resulted in the development of a liquid formulation known as choline-stabilized ortho-silicic acid (ch-OSA).
-
How is Bio-Silacumin different from collagen supplements?
In simple terms, instead of supplementing collagen externally, the Ortho-silicic Acid in our formula provides a micronutrient (silicon) that plays a key role in the body’s internal collagen production.
Essentially, many collagen supplements aim to provide extra collagen to the body from either fish or plants. On the contrary, the Ortho-silicic Acid used in Bio-Silacumin is a source of silicon, which is known to stabilise collagen already in the body by crosslinking collagen fibres.
Bio-Silacumin is also plant-based, while many collagen supplements are derived from animal sources.

How soon should I expect to see results?
Thanks to the unique bioavailability of the stabilized Ortho-silicic Acid used in the formula, you may see results faster than with other supplements. However, changes in hair take time, so might only notice a difference after weeks or months of daily use.
A study on ch-OSA (the stabilized Ortho-silicic Acid used in our formula) found that its oral intake during 20 weeks resulted in a significant positive effect on skin surface and skin mechanical properties, and on brittleness of hair and nails* [4].
Please note that results may vary by individual and no specific results are guaranteed.
*Fifty women with photodamaged facial skin were administered orally during 20 weeks, 10 mg Si/day in the form of ch-OSA pellets (n=25) or a placebo (n=25).

Why is silicon supplementation tricky?
While silicon is abundant in many plant-based foods, its bioavailability (i.e. our body’s ability to use it) from these sources is questionable due to the poor solubility of the chemical forms present in food. [2]
Silicic acids, including ortho-silicic acid (OSA), are considered the best sources of silicon due to their high bioavailability (approx. 40%) and natural occurrence in food [5].
The challenge of OSA in supplements and our solution to it?
Ortho-silicic acid (OSA) is a highly bioavailable source of silicon. However, in highly concentrated solutions (i.e. supplements), it has to be stabilised to avoid its polymerisation leading to a decreased bioavailability. [1]
This issue can be resolved by using a stabilised form of OSA called choline-stabilized ortho-silicic acid (Ch-OSA) [1].
Choline is a highly demanded molecule that’s instantly removed in the stomach, making ortho-silicic acid freely available as a monomer (rather than a polymer) with high bioavailability.
Ch-OSA: 250% better absorption than traditional Silica Complex*
A study by the British Journal of Nutrition [6] tested the dissolution of Ch-OSA against other silicon-containing products. They found that Ch-OSA had a significantly higher dissolution than the other products.
In particular, Ch-OSA was 2.5 to 3x more dissolved than traditional Silica Complex.
These results strongly suggest that ch-OSA has superior absorption compared to regular silicon supplements in pill form, as higher dissolution typically correlates with better absorption.

How is Bio-Silacumin different from the Hair Nutrient Tablets?
Bio-Silacumin is a liquid formula, while the Hair Nutrient Tablets are in a tablet form.
The Hair Nutrient Tablets contain nutrients that contribute the maintenance of normal hair (e.g. zinc) and to the protection of cells from oxidative stress (e.g. riboflavin).
Bio-Silacumin also has ingredients that contribute to the maintenance of normal hair (e.g zinc and selenium). However, it’s key ingredient is Ortho-silicic Acid, a bioavailable source of silicon, which is an essential micronutrient of collagen synthesis.
Please be aware that both products contain Zinc. The first product provides 10 mg, and the second provides 9 mg per serving. Together, they provide 19 mg of Zinc.
EFSA sets the UL for Zinc at 25 mg per day for adults. This is the maximum amount considered unlikely to cause adverse health effects when consumed daily over a lifetime. You should consult with a healthcare provider to ensure safety based on your individual health needs.
If all these conditions are met, there should be no problems with incorporating both supplements into your routine. However, monitoring for any potential nutrient excess and adverse interactions is always crucial.
-
Can Bio-Silacumin stop hair loss?
Hair supplements usually don’t stop hair loss, unless it’s caused by a deficiency in one of the nutrients in the supplement. Rather than targeting hair loss directly, the ingredients in Bio-Silacumin such as zinc and selenium aim to contribute to the maintenance of normal hair, while Ortho-silicic Acid provides a nutrient (silicon) that plays a role in the body’s natural collagen production.
-
Is Bio-Silacumin suitable for those trying to conceive, pregnant, or breastfeeding?
We always recommend those trying to conceive, pregnant, or breastfeeding to consult their medical provider before starting a new supplement.
-
How often should Bio-Silacumin be taken?
We recommend taking 2x10 drops a day either in a glass of water, juice, or smoothie, or directly.
-
How long does one bottle last?
One bottle of Bio-Silacumin should last for about a month.
-
Does Bio-Silacumin contain any endocrine disruptors?
No, Bio-Silacumin doesn’t contain any known endocrine disruptors.
-
What does Bio-Silacumin taste like?
Bio-Silacumin has a mostly neutral taste making it a versatile addition to any cold drink.
-
DoesBio-Silacumin contain gluten, sugar, dairy, soy, or any animal-derived ingredients?
